Chase Alias critique of Marcos Rivero

I've reviewed plenty of portraits in georgous settings but something about this particular work grabs me. At first it looks to be just a simple snapshot of a coupolke on a beautiful beach but the classic composition juxtaposed with the interesting expressions and poses of the subjects makes this work, in my opinion, "In"Flickr. -Chase Alias, ReTweet Critique for InFlickr

“Love the Future!”: Netizens Show Suppor

Sina Weibo (microblog) editors have been busy deleting posts relating to Ai Weiwei since yesterday. (See our roundup of Ai Weiwei coverage here.) One user reported that she reposted a message about Ai Weiwei over 200 times and it was deleted each time.

However, some netizens have come up with a phrase, “Love the Future,” (爱未来 Ai Weilai) which looks and sounds very similar to Ai Weiwei’s name (艾未未). Many netizens have immediately adopted this new coded phrase to post on Sina Weibo as a form of protest; many of those “love the future” messages have also been quickly deleted.

CDT took screenshots of some of these “Love the Future” messages as examples. The majority of participants simply write, “I love the future!” Many include a photo of Ai Weiwei. Selected translations of other messages are below:

Jonathan Hobin

Jonathan Hobin an award-winning photographer and art director. Hobin’s work draws on iconic literary, cinematic and historical references and popular culture to explore the darker-or at the very least, the more troubling-aspects of childhood, imagination and storytelling.

Hobin’s photographic work has been featured in numerous national magazines, and his art direction credits include films for Bravo!, CBC Television, and the Lifetime Channel (U.S.A.). Most recently Hobin was the Canadian production designer for the first Slovenian/Canadian film, The Maiden Danced to Death (2010) with Academy Award winning cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond (Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Deer Hunter, Deliverance). For the second consecutive year Jonathan Hobin was selected in 2011 as one of three artists shortlisted for the RBC Emerging Artist Award, presented by the Council for the Arts in Ottawa (results pending).

Angie Pinchbeck:Critiqued by Chase Alias

Angie Pants , as she's known on Flickr, has a photostream quite varied. It runs the gamut from street scenes to trippy overlay techniques all of which have character and merit. However what truly grabbed my attention about her work was her candids. With a formal use of framing she manages to surprise us with humor, whit and something slightly jarring that moves you through her world as if you'v know her for years. She's been on my contact list since I joined Flickr a while ago and I find myself checking back with her just to make sure she's doing well in China. I have a soft spot for an artist who can capture raw emotion on film an I feel Angie is one of the best on Flickr. I definitely say "In"Flickr.

David S Pollack for Camusall Blog. This self portrait if Anchal Badariya who is actually seated on the left center and partially blocked is a witty way for a photographer to show himself and his world. The composition is awesome and it has layers of depth both visually and contextually. This self portrait is a good example of Camusall's Philosophy, "Concept Through Self Portrait" http://camusallmag.blogspot.com
