chasealias institute: A review of Chase Alias' Show by Holden Vance III for Kiss :)(: Kiss a conceptual place
chasealias institute....Living is Performance Existing as Art. Conceptual Art, Alter Art (alter-ism) Neo-Dada, Fluxus, Immersionism, Techno-Performance, Post-Modernism, New Media or whatever you happen to call it, Chasealias DS Pollack has been creating existential works of art for almost 2 decades. The lack of physical product is part of what defines Performance Art. However, a viable bi-product is key to this great art's survival.

"Google the name Chase Alias and it gets About 10,400,000 results (0.31 seconds). Except for the highly prolific conceptual artist Ai WeiWei this number is greater than or about equal to all Chase Alias sighted influences combined. Yet he is still unrepresented mostly in part to that fact that he keeps himself deeply reclusive and in character as any great Method Actor do. "

Chase Alias' Show is more than just a blog. It is the brainchild of Method Actor/Conceptual Artist David S Pollack. David truly gets into his characters by living as them for years at a time and then existing online and in real life as this persona socially, physically and emotionally. His newest Immersion Art Masterpiece, "Bugchaser" is a socially aware all encompassing view of Chase Alias' experiences with a dark underbelly of the gay world. It points out the need for people to be m ore aware of what HIV and Viral Load tests are and what the differences are.

(Excerpt from Chase Alias' Show :)(: Monday, July 18, 2011)
Chase Alias' Popular Bug Chaser Artwork from "What we Found on Craigslist" Series, 2010 Becomes a Grim Reality for Conceptual Method Artist/Actor David S Pollack
When Conceptual Artist Chase Alias (birth name David S Pollack) first posted the Social Commentary Artwork "Bug Chaser" He Caused Some Concerns. Then People Began to realize it was Just a Socially Conscious Commentary and the Work Gained in Popularity. But He Would Have Never Imagined That He would become the Target of an Evil Vindictive Bug Chase!
But who is to blame. Chase Alias has found himself in an awful position this morning. He has been in a loving monogamous relationship of over a year. At the beginning of the relationship both partners did the responsible thing or so he thought/ they both went to the same doctor and supposedly both had HIV tests.
Chase Alias' test came back negative and that was great. His partners came back not detected and Chase was told by the doctor that meant negative so he took that as the truth. Recently his partner had a new test. Again it came back not detected but Chase was weary this time and questioned it. The test not only said not detected it said .2 within range. Turns out both tests his partner had were viral load tests and the doctor knew this. It also turns out that Chase' partner has about 20 years of not detected viral load tests and he says, "No one ever told him he was positive."
Who is Chase supposed to believe? What should he do? This is a cry for help!!!!!!!!! :():

At times the blog seems to convey real messages of actual happenings, which bring the concepts of mockumentary to level never seen before. He's invented a sort of Mocku-Photoblog for the sake of his method characterization. And while keeping in character David as Chase Alias creates stunning Self Portraits that equal photographic greats such as Robert Mapplethorpe and Cindy Sherman. Though he remains true to his inspirations as a conceptual artist and sites his biggest influences to be Robert Mapplethorpe, Marcel Duchamp, Maurizio Cattelan, Ai WeiWei, Damien Hirst and oddly enough Marshall McLuhan. While he doesn't call her great influence Chase (David) does admit that the concept of focusing almost exclusively on self was somewhat influenced by the great Cindy Sherman.
Google the name Chase Alias and it gets About 10,400,000 results (0.31 seconds). Except for the highly prolific conceptual artist Ai WeiWei this number is greater than or about equal to all Chase Alias sighted influences combined. Yet he is still unrepresented mostly in part to that fact that he keeps himself \deep in character as any great Method Actor would do. Chase (David) has little concern for sales and representation. In fact as the previous owner of ground floor Chelsea NY gallery WEISSPOLLACK Galleries, David Pollack has a vast client list. Many of who have made inquiries into purchasing prints, videos, sculpture and even his full installations. They want to know what gallery represents him and where to see his work. He simply responds that his work is always there for the world to see on one of his many blogs. David S Pollack’s biggest career goal is to have his works go straight to auction. Hopefully with the success of his newest series "Search for My Very Own Wagstaff, 2011", a cool reference to Mapplethorpe and an insight into the world of Chase Alias, auction houses will take a second look. After all 10,400,000 results are not too shabby. Imagine what Chase Alias as brand could sell once he decides to go there. It's obvious that David S Pollack put years of thought and work into these conceptual series. Probably enough even to make the always-critical Sol LeWitt Proud. Not sure what you think about Chase Alias, Method/ Immersion Art or his work? Well you'll be seeing a lot more of it soon as this young artist is about to explode into the cultural lexicon, of that you can be assured.

“★★★★★ A whole new level of Immersion art. The Method Actor/Conceptual Artist David S Pollack becomes Chase Alias with this witty and fun blog, Chase Alias' Show. This is the first blog I've seen that is truly a work of art on its own.”
